My Modesty Checklist . . . MORE IDEAS

MY MODESTY CHECKLIST (shown above): Help youth review a modesty checklist as they think about their own personal dress and body care. This activity can be used for boys as well. Have a youth who is respected by others and who dresses modestly say, “When I dress modestly, I respect my body as a gift from God.” Then review the following questions as you show the chart to the youth.

Questions To Ask Yourself Before You Leave Home Might Be:

MODESTY: Are my shoulders covered? Do my shirts cover my stomach? Are my shirts and pants modestly cut, not too low? Do my shorts and skirts go to the knee so they are not too short? Do my clothes fit well, not too tight? Do my clothes have wholesome labels and words? Is my body free of tattoos? Am I free of ear piercings (boys)? Do I have only one ear pierce per ear (girls)?

GROOMING: Are my clothes clean and without holes? Do I look neat, not sloppy? Is my body and hair clean?

VISUALIZING GOOD CHOICES FOR MY BODY: Girls can ask themselves: If I were visiting the Savior today, how would I dress and groom myself? Or knowing that Heavenly Father created my body, do I try to eat nutritious foods and take care of my body and health to make it strong?

To Make: Print, color, and cut out the Make Good Choices for My Body chart for each girl.

THOUGHT TREAT: Modest Dress Cookies: Have sugar cookie dough rolled out for girls to make their own modest dressed dolls. Then bake. Have girls paint cookies after baking with a mixture of canned milk and food coloring with different bowls and colors. See the instructions for making different colors on the small box with food coloring.
Thought: Tell girls that as they create modest dress every day they will welcome the chance to sweeten their spirit and testimony with right choices–that begin with modest dress.

VIDEO: 195 Dresses (service project to help friends obtain modest dresses for school dances – Activity Day girls ages 8-11 could start this tradition to collect and have leaders help them remake modest clothing to share). This is also a great service project. Enjoy!
