ACTIVITY PLANS: Remind children to say two prayers daily to remember to talk to their Heavenly Father in humble prayer.

  1. Pray Morning and Night to Keep Heaven in Sight prayer chart

    Encourage children to mark this daily prayer chart, which reminds them to pray morning and night to keep heaven in sight. When they have morning prayer they can color the top portion of the number. When they have evening prayer they can color the bottom portion of the number.

  2. Share special experiences when prayers were answered.
  3. Remind children of the special words we use to refer to God in our prayers that show respect and love for him: Talk about using special prayer words referring to God: Thee, Thou, Thy, and Thine

THOUGHT TREAT: Two-Smiles Prayer FudThought Treats for lesson activitiesge. Create fudge as follows. Thought: Tell children that when they pray it puts a smile on two faces, their face and Heavenly Father’s face.
TO MAKE FUDGE. Shape fudge into balls, press down, and carve a smile with the round edge of a spoon and the eyes with the pointed end.
Quick Fudge Recipe: Melt an 11–ounce package of milk chocolate chips, 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk, and 1 tsp. vanilla in the microwave (about 2–6 minutes). While hot, drop by teaspoonsful onto waxed paper. Mold into balls, then press balls to 1/4″.

SCRIPTURE CHALLENGE CARD: Help children Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.

*LESSON IDEAS:

Tell children about a time when a prayer or prayers were answered (one noted in the lesson Enrichment #2). Ask children to share.

Ask children to read Matthew 6:9-13 (suggested in Enrichment #3) and as you read have them listen for these prayer words thee, thou, thy, and thine. Tell them that when we say these words in our prayers we are referring to God, showing respect and love for Heavenly Father.
