MIRACLES OF JESUS three miracles picture-match poster
OBJECTIVE: Strengthen the youth’s faith in Jesus Christ by reading three miracles Jesus performed.
Talk to youth about times they have been very sick what it was like and who helped them get better. Ask, “Did you receive a priesthood blessing and what were your experiences on getting well.”
Help the youth realize that they show their faith in Jesus Christ through prayer and by asking for priesthood blessings when they are sick or have problems.
Explain to the youth that the stories in this lesson are about people Jesus healed because they had great faith in Him.
ACTIVITY: Create a picture poster of these three miracles:
• Jesus heals a man with palsy (Mark 2:1-12)
• Jesus raises Jairus’s daughter (Mark 5:21-24, 35-43)
• Jesus heals a woman of faith (Mark 5:25-34)
Find the three stickers for each miracle and glue them in the right place, numbering the stickers 1, 2, and 3 to determine the order of placement on the poster. Encourage children to use the poster as a teaching tool to share with their families.
TO MAKE Print (color) and cut out the Three Miracles Picture Poster and glue-on stickers that follow for each youth.
THOUGHT TREAT Heart-shaped sandwich. Cut two slices of bread for each youth into a heart shape. Fill with cream crease filling our sandwich spread. As youth enjoy, tell them through the healing power of the priesthood that was restored to the earth.
SCRIPTURE CHALLENGE CARD: Help children Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.

*LESSON IDEAS:
Start by having the youth memorize the Articles of Faith 1:4 “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Ask the youth, “Why is “Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ” named as the FIRST principle?”
For us to have faith in Jesus Christ we need to pray as the young boy Joseph Smith after reading James 1:5. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

How do we know Jesus Christ lived on the earth? Joseph Smith saw Jesus and Heavenly Father in a vision and was directed to restore Jesus’ Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the earth. Joseph was instructed by Jesus that none of the churches were true (he was to restore the gospel upon the earth again).

The Angel Moroni (that same Moroni who wrote on the Book of Mormon gold plates, buried the plates, and showed Joseph Smith where to find the plates) instructed Joseph on what needed to be restored in Jesus Christ’s Church:

The restoration of Jesus Christ’s Church was necessary after Jesus and His apostles died because the important parts were lost and needed to be brought back. They were: PROPHETS, BAPTISM, HOLY GHOST, COMMANDMENTS, MISSIONARIES, SCRIPTURES, PRIESTHOOD, TEMPLES, and the SACRAMENT.

How do we know that Jesus Christ lived and is directing His Church on the earth today? If we are prayerful the spirit of the Holy Ghost can witness the truth that He lives. Before Jesus left His apostles He gave them the Holy Ghost to guide them. This same Spirit is given to us after we are baptized. He can witness to us that Jesus Christ lives (read John 14:26).

When we read the Book of Mormon we are promised in Moroni 10:4-5 that we can know truth through the Spirit.
“And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”
