THOUGHT TREAT: Licorice maze. Give children a string of licorice to compare with Sabbath activities by saying the following: “This licorice is like our testimony. If we do activities on the Sabbath that invite the Spirit, our testimony grows and stretches. (Tie licorice in a knot.) If we do activities on the Sabbath that do not invite the Spirit, our testimony becomes smaller (tied up in knots). Let’s name some activities that will help us stretch our testimony of the Sabbath and help us keep it holy.”

SCRIPTURE CHALLENGE CARD: Help children Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.

LESSON DISCUSSION: Have the children discuss appropriate ways they can show their love for Heavenly Father on the Sabbath, such as attending church, reading the scriptures, writing in their journals, visiting relatives and the sick, enjoying uplifting music, worshiping, serving others, and participating in restful family-centered activities. If a questionable activity is mentioned, ask the children to decide if that activity would be a good way to show that they love and honor Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ or if it would be better to do it on another day.
