• ELIJAH AND THE WIDOW OF ZAREPHATH (OIL & GRAIN)
• DANIEL AND THE LIONS (LIONS)
• THE BROTHER OF JARED (STONES)
• NEPHI AND LEHI IN PRISON (FIRE)

ACTIVITY
1. Read D&C 63:9: “Faith cometh not by signs, but signs follow those that believe.” Explain that signs mean miracles. We must first have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and recognize where the miracles come from to perform those miracles and that they come from Jesus Christ, the God of miracles.
2. Have youth take turns coming up and choosing a symbol, handing it to the leader to read the story on the back. The leader could be an older youth or teen (if using activity in a family home evening).
3. After the story is read, have the youth mount the symbol on the board or poster around the Faith Brings Miracles sign.
4. Optional: If there is time, have youth choose a Story Starter and tell the story to the Primary or for family home evening.

THOUGHT TREAT: Eat-a-Miracle (eatable image symbolizing miracle).
Option 1:
Form out of bread dough a favorite a miracle (image). Then bake.
Option 2: Squeeze some cheese on a cracker to form a miracle (image).
Eat describing the miracle. Read about how the Lord will show miracles unto those who believe, D&C 35:8 ”For I am God, and mine arm is not shortened; and I will show miracles, signs, and wonders, unto all those who believe on my name.”

They include healings, restoring the dead to life, and resurrection. Miracles are a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith is necessary in order for miracles to be manifested” (Guide to the Scriptures165).

YOUTH DOCTRINAL CLASS Lesson AUGUST “How Can We Face Adversity with Faith”
Quorum or class members can learn how to faithfully endure adversity by studying some of these examples (see some in “Supporting Resources”). They could each choose one of the scripture passages and summarize that person’s experience for the quorum or class. What insights do we gain about why we have adversity? What do we learn about how to faithfully endure adversity? #YouthDoctrinalClass #HowCanWeFaceAdversitywithFaith
