LOVE TO SING – WHO SINGS? singer cube
11 pages (color/black-and-white visuals and instructions)
DESCRIPTION: Children will be motivated to sing as they put together heart puzzles to learn which song to sing; then roll the cube to learn who will sing them.
Tell them that singing is one way to worship or show love to Heavenly Father and Jesus.
To Make:
1. Print, color and cut out the 1-12 heart puzzle pieces and cube.
2. Laminate and cut out puzzle pieces, placing each individual puzzle in an envelope as shown (or see option 2 below).
3. Write the numbers 1-12 on a poster and the song titles and page numbers for the songs you wish children to practice, on the poster. Example: Write “1. I Am a Child of God, page 4.” Mount poster on the board when you are ready to sing. See #2 below.
5. Fold tabs on cube and glue tabs together to create.
To Use:
Hearts pick-a-song puzzle & SINGER CUBE:
1 – Envelope Puzzles
1. Ahead of time hide the 12 puzzle envelopes in the room.
2. Send children one at a time to find a puzzle and put it together to learn the number. Then match the number with the number on the poster to know which song to sing.
3. SINGER CUBE: Roll the singer cube to see who will sing.
Option 2 –Random Pick.
1. Place all the heart pieces into a cloth bag, or a bowl and have the children pick randomly one heart piece at a time and tape the piece to the board. Continue on to the next child. You may have several partial hearts before one is completed. Once a heart has all its pieces and the numbers is revealed then sing the song.
2. SINGER CUBE: Roll the singer cube to see who will sing, e.g., Boys Only.
