LESSON PART 2 Prepare Yourself Spiritually
In a vision, John the Revelator saw a book that “no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth” was worthy to open, and this made him weep (see Revelation 5:3–4). The book represented “the works of God,” including His plan for our immortality and eternal life (see Doctrine and Covenants 77:6; Moses 1:39). ACTIVITY #1:
POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. TIMELINE FROM JESUS’S BIRTH TO SECOND COMING prophecies match. Youth can imagine themselves in a time machine traveling back and forward to learn of the prophet’s words telling of Jesus. His: Birth, Ministry, Death and Atonement, Resurrection, Visit to the Nephites, and The Second Coming. - JESUS redeemed us with his blood
ACTIVITY #2:
SINGING TIME. “REDEEMER OF ISRAEL” song visuals. Youth can sing to rejoice in the Savior’s coming to deliver us from sin and death. Write the words on the cue cards to place on the back of the visuals. For example, “We know he is coming to gather his sheep And led them to Zion in love.” “Our King, our Deliv’rer, our all!” - John 1:1–3, 10; Ether 3:14; Moses 4:1–2 (The Savior’s mission in the premortal life)
ACTIVITIES #3 - #4 (to illustrate this): - YOUTH GOAL ACTIVITY. GIFTS OF RESURRECTION & ETERNAL LIFE gift package. Prophets foretold of Jesus Christ coming to bring these gifts. Create these gift packages to hold treats: #1 Gift of Resurrection (a free gift given to all men). #2 Gift of Eternal Life to live with God again (a gift we must earn through living God’s commandments).
- POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. PLAN OF HAPPINESS: Premortal, Mortal, and Postmortal Life match game. This will take youth for a spin around the orbits of before, during, and after this life on earth. It’s a mystery? No, not if you know Heavenly Father’s plan. Smiley faces are chosen, questions are read and faces are placed by the orbits that describe their answers.
