ACTIVITY DAYS PLANNER
Splish-Splash Water Fun (teach children water safety and games)
1. Print the Splish-Splash Water Fun Activities.
2. Learn the water safety rules and teach them to the children. Help the children participate in the water fun activities.
WATER SAFETY RULES: (1) Always swim with a friend. (2) Don’t swim where it’s too deep for your ability. (3) If surf’s up, wait until the water is calm. Don’t swim in ocean waves unless you’re an experienced swimmer and are with an adult. (4) Dive only into water where you know it’s not shallow or rocky, and where you will not hit another swimmer. (5) Stay away from boats and waterskiers. (6) Never swim in an area you are unfamiliar with; first walk out and swim back in. (7) If using inflatable tubes, don’t drift far from shore. (8) Always wear a fitted life jacket when on a boat or playing in deep water.
THOUGHT TREATS: (Gummy Fish in Jell-O). For a cool-off treat, serve blue Jell-O filled with gummy fish, topped with a whipped-cream cloud (shown). Serve with a plastic spoon. Tell children that in order to keep afloat, they must learn how to swim safely.
To Make: Prepare a 3-oz. package of blueberry Jello, and pour into a clear plastic cup until half full, then add gummy fish candies. Refrigerate 40 minutes. Make a second box of Jell-O to fill cup. Refrigerate until firm. Top with whipped cream.
