Build a Prophet – pick-a-song

13 pages (color/black-and-white visuals and instructions)

DESCRIPTION: Use this activity to help children choose songs to sing by selecting and placing prophet pieces on a poster to “build” a prophet (ancient and modern).

Ask children if they can name some of the ancient prophets who lived before Jesus lived on the earth, and modern prophets in the Latter-days. Examples: • ANCIENT: Moses, Abraham, Noah, Jonah, Lehi (600 BC), Alma (about 90 BC)
•
MODERN: Joseph Smith, Gordon B. Hinckley, Thomas S. Monson, Russell M. Nelson, and more.

HOVER OVER or ZOOM IN (to view)

TO MAKE:
1. Print on cardstock (or mount visuals on cardstock paper), laminate, and cut out.
2. Tape the visuals on a poster to show children and introduce the activity. Then take pieces from poster and place in a container or to the left of the poster on the board (mixed up).

TO USE:
1. Have children draw pieces from a container (without tape on the back), or taped on the board randomly (or use board magnets without a poster).
2. As children place images on the board to build a prophet, have them choose a song to sing. Or have selected songs and page numbers on the back of each piece for children to choose which song they will sing.
