OBJECTIVE: Help children learn from the message on the puzzle: “Because Jesus suffered for my sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, I will repent and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.” All words can be placed in the puzzle.
TO MAKE Print in color (or color) the puzzle for each child.
ACTIVITY: Help children work on the puzzle and then discuss the following by reading the scriptures. Tell children that when Jesus suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane, He helped us overcome sin by suffering for our sins. This makes it possible for us to repent and be forgiven. He also suffered death, which makes it possible for us to live again.
SCRIPTURE DISCUSSION:
• Lesson 30* Suggests: Read Mosiah 14:3–5 and Alma 7:11–12. Discuss how Jesus Christ, through the Atonement, not only suffered for our sins but also suffered our pains, sicknesses, and sorrows. He understands perfectly everything we experience and suffer on earth. Through his love and compassion, he will help us with our problems and challenges
• Read the BIBLE scripture: Mark 1:15 “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” See the message “Because Jesus suffered …” message on the puzzle again when discussing this scripture.
THOUGHT TREAT: Repentance rollups. Have each child roll out a red fruit roll-up as you say, “Jesus rolled out the red carpet for us, giving us the royal treatment when He suffered for our sins. He wants us to know that we are Heavenly Father’s sons and daughter, princes, and princesses in His kingdom. If we repent and follow the straight and narrow path (carpet), we will return to our heavenly home.
TESTIMONY (the lesson* suggests): Bear your testimony that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. Express your love for Jesus and Heavenly Father and your gratitude that they have provided a way for us to overcome sin and death and live with them again.
