I need to be baptized and confirmed to return to live with Heavenly Father.
The children you teach are preparing to take important steps to live with Heavenly Father again by being baptized (born of water) and confirmed (born of the Spirit). How can you help them understand the importance of these two ordinances?

Summarize the story of Jesus teaching Nicodemus (see John 3:1–10). Promise the children that when they are baptized, Heavenly Father will give them the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Show the children this week’s activity page, and ask them to describe the drawings. Read John 3:5, and testify that we need to be baptized and confirmed to live with Heavenly Father again.

Ask the children to talk about what they do to wash their hands. Show the picture Girl Being Baptized (Gospel Art Book, no. 104), and help the children compare washing our hands with water to becoming spiritually clean through baptism.
OLDER CHILDREN

Youth can prepare to think the right thoughts during the sacrament by drawing and placing circles: #1 SMILE CIRCLE tells right action during sacrament; place it by the Always Remember Him sign. #2 FROWN CIRCLE tells the wrong action; place it below the sign. #3 SINGING CIRCLE tells a song to sing (the first verse); place by the sign. CHILDREN’S LESSON ACTIVITY. I Will Think about Jesus – poster or coloring page. Children are instructed to do the following DURING THE SACRAMENT: Sing or listen to the sacrament song, listen to sacrament prayers, think about stories of Jesus, and try to always remember Him. The Home Activity has parents reminding them to be reverent during the sacrament and to think about Jesus as they partake of the bread and water. READ MORE
AGES 4-7. I WILL REMEMBER JESUS: Last Supper shadow box. Children can remember (with this shadow box) the first sacrament Jesus gave to His 12 Apostles to eat the bread and drink the water to remember Him. He was about to complete His mission, to suffer and die for all of us. READ MORE
AGES 8-11. REMEMBER JESUS: Sacrament Symbols puzzle. Youth can ponder this sacrament prayer found in 3 Nephi 18 to partake of the: (verse 7) BREAD in remembrance of the Savior’s body as a testimony they will always remember Him. (verse 11) WATER with repentance and baptism, remembering the Savior’s blood shed for them. With the promise to always remember Him, they will have His Spirit to be with them. READ MORE
MEMORIZE SCRIPTURE. John 3:5 rebus scripture poster/card set. Jesus Christ set the example for us to be baptized. When we are baptized by immersion we make a covenant or promise to Heavenly Father; then receive the Holy Ghost who can guide us to help us return to heaven (God’s kingdom). SINGING TIME. “WHEN I AM BAPTIZED” song visuals. Youth can know from singing with these song visuals that they can “be as clean as the earth right after rain.” When they are “baptized” their “wrongs are washed away.” They can “be forgiven and improve … each day.” They will want to “be the best” they can to “live with God again.” READ MORE

Jesus Christ offers me “living water.”
Just as Jesus used water to teach the woman of Samaria, you can use water to teach the children why we need the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Using John 4:5–23, write summary sentences from the story of the woman at the well. Ask the children to refer to these verses to put the sentences in the correct order. What was Jesus trying to teach the woman?

Give the children a drink of water, and ask them to share experiences when they were thirsty. Talk about how it felt to finally get a drink of water. Invite the children to name things that, like a cup of water, satisfy us for the moment. What things are like “living water” that can satisfy us forever?

Write on the board How is the gospel like water? Ask the children to think about how they would answer this question as they read John 4:5–23.
OLDER CHILDREN
John 4:5–15
Children in your class can all relate to feeling thirsty. How can you use that experience to help them understand how much we need the living water Jesus Christ offers?

Use the picture in this week’s outline in Come, Follow Me—For Individuals and Families to tell the story of Jesus and the woman at the well (see John 4:5–15). Ask the children to retell the story.

Show a glass of water, and talk with the children about why we need water. Briefly summarize John 4:5–15, and testify that Jesus Christ and His gospel give life to our spirits, just as water gives life to our bodies.

GOSPEL GAME ACTIVITY. THE MISSION OF JESUS CHRIST: His life puzzle. With this Mission of Jesus puzzle, youth can learn of eight blessings that come from Jesus and His mission. He is The Son of God, Savior, Teacher, Brother, Creator, and Judge. Puzzle pieces match, e.g., “Jesus will be my judge … so I must make good choices.” READ MORE

AGES 4-7. THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS ARE A GREAT TREASURE! bookmark. Children can go on a treasure hunt to find this bookmark that includes some yarn to weave through the punched holes. Bookmarks can be placed in their scriptures to remind them that every time they read the scriptures they are on a treasure hunt to find words of wisdom from Jesus or the prophets. READ MORE
YOUTH LESSON ACTIVITY. “BUILD UPON MY ROCK” Sure Foundation rock & body puzzle. Youth will know why Jesus is their “rock” their sure foundation that they can lean on Him as He had proven His love, is our example, suffered for our sins, taught us how to be happy, and gave His life for us. READ MORE

How can you help children learn this precious truth?

Ask the children to complete sentences like this one: “Because my parents love me, they …” Read John 3:16. Then help each child repeat John 3:16, replacing the words “the world” with his or her own name. Help the children notice what this verse says Heavenly Father did because He loves us. Invite the children to draw a picture of Jesus. Let them share their drawings with each other and express their love for the Savior.

Sing together a song about Jesus, such as “He Sent His Son” (Children’s Songbook, 34–35). Let the children hold up a picture of Jesus every time they sing a word like “Son,” “Jesus,” or “Savior.”

POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. GUESS WHO WAS SAVED BY THE SAVIOR? Youth will learn the Book of Mormon stories of Enos, Alma the Younger, Zeezrom, King Lamoni’s father, and the man brought to Jesus. This will give them hope that they too can be saved because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. READ MORE
AGES 1-5. JESUS LOVES ME sacrament mini-portrait. With this children can think about how Jesus loves us, giving us the sacrament of bread and water that He gave His Apostles and the Nephites (to remember Him). READ MORE
AGES 4-7. ALL EYES WILL SEE AGAIN resurrection glasses – Easter. Children can put on these “All Eyes Will See Again!” glasses to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This reminder helps them see that because of Jesus they can be resurrected and live again like Jesus, rise from the dead, their perfect bodies will come forth, and never die again. READ MORE
YOUTH LESSON ACTIVITY. JESUS DIED FOR ME Atonement ponder wheel. Turning the wheel, youth can learn of His great love for us. The scripture in the window references the action above it. As they study these they can learn that Jesus: Knew the future, was concerned for His mother, needed His Father, did His Father’s will, and was merciful and forgiving. READ MORE
GAME & SING ALONG. EASTER HOSANNA mini memorize song graphic cards and memory game. Write lyrics on the back of the cards. Make it a challenge by writing half the verse on one card and the rest on the other matching card. For example, on the Hosanna card(s) #5 write the chorus “Hosanna! Blessed be the name … (on the first card) “of the Most High God!” (on the second card). READ MORE
SINGING TIME. “HE SENT HIS SON” song visuals. With this song youth can know how much Heavenly Father loves us, to send His only begotten son to earth to sacrifice his life for us. All because He wants us to return. Write the words on the cue cards (in your language) to place on the back. For example, “How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?” READ MORE

I can honor my mother as Jesus did.
At the wedding in Cana, Mary told Jesus that the wine had run out. According to the Joseph Smith Translation, Jesus responded to His mother by asking, “Woman, what wilt thou have me to do for thee? that will I do” (in John 2:4, footnote a). Jesus is an example of how we should treat our mothers.

Invite the children to read John 2:1–11 and take turns retelling the story in their own words.

Ask the children to list things their mother might need help with. Invite them to practice what they could say to her using some of Jesus’s words: “What wilt thou have me to do for thee?” (John 2:4, footnote a).

Invite some mothers to visit your class and share what their children do to show respect for them.

AGES 1-5. JESUS WANTS ME TO FORGIVE: Joseph Forgave His Brothers finger puppets. Children will learn about Joseph who was sold into Egypt by his brothers. Joseph became a leader by telling of a dream about a famine where the people of the land would have no food. He was put in charge of storing up wheat for the time of need. His starving brothers came to get food and Joseph forgave them. READ MORE
AGES 4-7. SHOWING LOVE TO PARENTS O”bee”dience Meter Children can learn with this meter to be obedient, trustworthy, a listener, loving, cheerful, and helpful. As they turn the dial they can say, “I can “bee” ______ to show love to Mom and Dad. The window opens to the smiling bee faces that tell how they can show love to a parent or grandparent. READ MORE
