LESSON LIFESAVER Activity
Book of Mormon CHALLENGE CHART to mark chapters read
OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps children help the children love and value the Book of Mormon.
ACTIVITY: Book of Mormon Reading Chart
Help children learn the Book of Mormon Promise in Moroni 10:4-5 (see lesson 44) and talk about Moroni who buried the plates hundreds of years before giving them to Joseph Smith (shown on the chart). Challenge children to read the entire Book of Mormon, using the Chart to motivate them. As they read each chapter, they can color in the square for that chapter. Check their progress.
TO MAKE: Using cardstock, print or copy, color, and cut out the Book of Mormon Reading Chart that follows for each child, without coloring in the squares. Color just the border.
THOUGHT TREAT: Hill Cumorah Trees. Serve celery or broccoli trees. Remind children of the hill where the Book of Mormon plates were buried and found hundreds of years later.
SCRIPTURE CARDS: Help children Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.
James 1:5: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
