John the Baptist word search puzzle
OBJECTIVE: Complete this puzzle to learn about John, the cousin to Jesus who would baptize Jesus.
INTRODUCTION: John the Baptist was chosen to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. Help children learn about John the Baptist.
DO PUZZLE: Find as many words as you can in the word search by looking across, down, and diagonally. Then write the word in the right blank to complete the sentence.
Answers: “I know all about John the Baptist! John was six months older than Jesus. John ate wild honey and locusts. John prepared the way for Jesus. Jesus was baptized by John. John’s parents were Zacharias and Elisabeth. John was a very choice spirit.”
TO MAKE Print/color the John the Baptist word search puzzle for each child.
THOUGHT TREAT (when appropriate): Baptism biscuits or muffins. Help children learn about John the Baptist and his purpose by stuffing scriptures inside a treat for children to find and read. Purchase or make biscuits or muffins. Write the following scripture references on strips of paper, roll up and place inside biscuit or muffin (pierce with a knife and slide scripture in the hole). Wrap scripture references in aluminum foil if baking them inside biscuits or muffins. As children eat their Baptism Biscuits or Muffins, they can find the scripture reference. Have one child with clean hands look up the reference and read it aloud. Provide wet wipes.

Sing the “BAPTISM” song. Children love singing “When Jesus came to John the Baptist,” “was baptized by immersion,” all to make His way to heaven and show us the way, with no sin, Jesus didn’t need baptism. He simply did it to show us the way, to be obedient. The words tell this story.
