When Jesus Christ organized His Church He ordained His apostles with PRIESTHOOD power to baptize, heal the sick, and more. When Jesus and His apostles died this PRIESTHOOD power/authority was lost.
When the Prophet Joseph Smith restored the Church of Jesus Christ, the PRIESTHOOD was restored. In 1829 heavenly beings brought the Priesthoods back (John the Baptist) the Aaronic, and (Peter, James, and John) the Melchizedek. See activities to teach about PRIESTHOOD to build up the kingdom of God.
