ACTIVITY: 13 Lucky Numbers Game
Play the Lucky Numbers Game to learn the keywords and learn the Articles of Faith.
TO PLAY:
1. Divide players into two teams.
2. Place a marker (button or coin) for each team at START.
3. The first team rolls the die or chooses a 1-5 slip of paper and moves that number of spaces on the board. The team then looks at the number under the marker and reads the keyword that matches the number.
4. The players can recite that Article of Faith to earn 20 points for their team.
5. The first team to get to FINISH, or to earn 100 points by saying their Articles of Faith, wins.
TO MAKE: Print or copy, color, and cut out the game board. You will need two different markers (buttons or coins), and a die. Instead of using a die, you may write the numbers 1-5 on separate strips of paper to draw from a container to determine moves (make several sets of numbers 1-5). Make a game for youth to take home.
THOUGHT TREAT: Lucky 13 Cookies. Write numbers 1-13 on 13 different sugar cookies using frosting in a tube or bag (cut slit on the end of the bag to pipe frosting through the hole). As each youth eats their numbered cookie, have them recite the article of Faith that belongs to that number (saying the keyword first). Give each youth an Article of Faith card or a large Articles of Faith poster to display. See DOWNLOADS below.
SCRIPTURE CARDS: Help children Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.
Articles of Faith 1:13 “We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.”
