I Love Nature poster or coloring page
poster (Color and Black & White) with instructions
OBJECTIVE: Help children feel gratitude to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for trees, plants, and flowers. When we pray, we can thank Them for these beautiful creations that help us.
Talk about the poster, saying, “I love the plants, flowers, and trees. They bless our lives, both you and me.”
Ask children to:
(1) think of another fruit that grows on a tree;
(2) name animals and birds that live in trees (e.g., squirrel, monkey, chipmunk, leopard, snake, owl, or robin);
(3) name your favorite vegetable;
(4) name your favorite flower;
(5) list what you would like to plant in a garden;
(6) tell what you like most about trees (e.g., they are homes for animals, we can climb them, we can pick fruit from them, we can sit in their shade).
Growing plant actions: Makeup actions to go with trees, plants, and flowers as you sing to the tune of “Once There Was a Snowman,” (Children’s Songbook, 249). Sing, “I can plant a tree, tree, tree . . . water it and watch it grow . . . tall, tall, tall.”
Talk about the Home Activity: “Take me for a walk to look at the trees, plants, and flowers and help me pray to thank Heavenly Father for these creations.”
