. . . HELP JESUS FIND THE LOST SHEEP . . .
Heavenly Father wants all of His children to return to Him.
Think about the children in your class, including those who may not attend regularly. How can you help them feel Heavenly Father’s love? How can you inspire the other children to help you reach out to them in love?

Give one child a coin, another child a picture of a sheep, and another child a picture of the prodigal son (see ChurchofJesusChrist.org or this week’s activity page). Tell the three parables found in Luke 15 and invite the children to hold up their coin or picture when you mention it. You could invite the children to retell the parables to each other in their own words.

Ask the children to share a time when they lost something. How did they find it? Explain that people can become lost spiritually when they don’t follow Heavenly Father. Testify that God wants people who are lost to come to Him, and we can help them.

Invite the children to think of other children who don’t come to Primary. Help them color or write notes inviting these children to attend Primary or a Primary activity. How else can we help these children feel Heavenly Father’s love for them?
I can help Jesus find His lost sheep.
We all know someone who is in some ways like the lost sheep, the lost coin, or the prodigal son in the Savior’s parables. Consider how you can inspire the children to reach out to these people with love.

Help the children read the parable of the lost sheep or the parable of the lost coin, found in Luke 15:1–10, and share what they learned.

Write these names on the board: father, older son, and younger son. Show the video “The Prodigal Son” (ChurchofJesusChrist.org) and pause it occasionally so the children can write on the board some of the feelings of the people listed. How do Heavenly Father and Jesus feel about those who have sinned?

Ask a child to leave the room while the other children hide a coin or paper sheep. Have the child return and look for the coin or sheep. What are some ways people can feel “lost” like the coin or the sheep? Invite the children to suggest ways they can reach out to them. Sing with the children a related song, such as “Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd” (Hymns, no. 221), and testify of the joy that comes when people return to God.

Explain that Jesus used the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son to represent people who are “lost” because they do not have the blessings of the gospel. Invite the children to think of people they know who don’t have these blessings in their lives. What can they do to help these people feel Heavenly Father’s love for them?

POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. KEEP INSIDE THE FENCE Commandments Keep us Safe quiz. The prophet today leads us to keep God’s commandments. They tell us how to be safe from spiritual and physical dangers. Like the sheep inside the fence, we can be safe from the dangerous wolves, rocks, rivers, and pits. If we sin we can repent and go back inside the fence by keeping the commandments and being safe. READ MORE
AGES 2-7 ACTIVITY. FIND THE LITTLE LOST LAMB picture puzzle. Children can know like the little lost lamb, they too are important to Jesus who loves them. The parable of the lost sheep that Jesus told tells all of just how much He loves us. Our Savior doesn’t want one sheep (child of God) lost. They can search this puzzle for a sheep wearing a tennis shoe, a necktie, a baseball hat, a bell, a bow tie, and more. They are told to “Color the lost lambs as soon as ‘ewe’ find them.” READ MORE
John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
YOUTH ACTIVITY. JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD little lamb block. Youth can read John 1:29 to learn that Jesus Christ is the lamb to take away “the sins of the world.” Several blocks can be made to push around pretending to herd sheep (and more). READ MORE
YOUTH LESSON ACTIVITY. JESUS IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD tent-card and match game – John 10:4. Youth can spotlight events in Jesus Christ’s life with the focus on #8 “Jesus is Our Shepherd.” Read all of John 10 to learn that Jesus loves and cares for us as a good shepherd and cares for his sheep. GAME ACTIVITY. CHOOSE TO FOLLOW Sheep or Goat? situation slap game. Youth can learn Jesus’ Parable of the Sheep and the Goats (Matthew 25:31-46) to help them make the right decisions. The sheep sit on the right hand of God by choosing the right, serving Heavenly Father, to one day live with Him again in the kingdom of God. The word-strip choices will help them slap left (goat) or right (sheep). READ MORE

POST-AND PRESENT ACTIVITY. HOW GREAT SHALL BE YOUR JOY! planting seeds of faith missionary bouquet. Children learn to plant seeds of faith. Place the seed/stem and flower heads facedown on the board or table. Children match them up so the names match on each. First, read the seed/stem first to show a need-missionary situation, e.g. Ellie’s friend wanted to know about the church. Second, read the flower Ellie invited the girl’s parents to meet her parents then they attended church to learn. READ MORE
SINGING TIME ACTIVITY. “WE’LL BRING THE WORLD HIS TRUTH” song visuals. Youth can shine their light, doing as “the Lord commands” to “be the Lord’s missionaries to bring the world his truth.” They are “to build the kingdom” to “go forth and share” the gospel. To “prepare” “through study and prayer” “to take the gospel to all the world.” Write the words on the cue cards to mount on the back of visuals and learn more ways to present the song. READ MORE

How might the story of the ten lepers encourage the children to be thankful?

Tell the story of the ten lepers who were healed by Jesus. Show the picture found in this week’s outline in Come, Follow Me—For Individuals and Families and invite the children to count to ten on their fingers. Then ask them to put down nine fingers to show the one leper who thanked Jesus. Help the children think of someone they could thank for a kind or helpful action.

Invite each child to act out something he or she is grateful for, and have the rest of the children guess what it is. Ask the children to share ways we can show Heavenly Father that we are thankful for our blessings.
OLDER CHILDREN
The story of the ten lepers might be a good way to inspire the children to express gratitude to Heavenly Father for their blessings.

Read together the account of the ten lepers. How was the leper who gave thanks blessed for his gratitude? Why is it important to thank God for our blessings?

Invite the children to list things they are grateful for that start with each letter of their name.

Ask the children to write thank-you notes to Heavenly Father for the blessings He gives them. They could hang the notes by their beds to remind them to express gratitude when they pray.

10 TEN LEPERS spotlight
POST-AND-PRESENT Activity. DON’T JUST GOBBLE UP BLESSINGS: Extra-Miler Thankful Turkey feather find. Youth can spread their wings by giving thanks for their blessings like the one out of the ten lepers that returned to Jesus to give thanks (Luke 17:11-19). We can give thanks with all our heart, might, mind, and strength with this activity. Have the youth choose a feather and post it telling why they are thankful for the topic on the feather, e.g., friends, talents, prophets. READ MORE

AGES 4-7 GRATITUDE GOPHER’S Grab Bag. Children can give thanks to Heavenly Father for their blessings. They can reach in this grab bag for these items. They will find Home, flowers, eyes, teeth, pets, family, scriptures, cars, friends, food, ears, and legs. Gophers are small animals that dig tunnels. Children can dig deeper than just in the bag to think of more things they are thankful for. READ MORE

YOUTH LESSON ACTIVITY. GIVE THANKS: Jesus Heals 10 Lepers – Jesus thank you card. Youth can make a personal card to thank Jesus and remind them of how Jesus healed 10 lepers and only one returned to thank Him. Here they can name 10 things they can thank Jesus for. Then, as they pray they can view the reminders to thank Him. READ MORE

Youth can find the wordstrips to learn and tell these stories of Jesus to know that He can raise us from the dead, bless us, heal the sick and blind, serve others as he washed the feet of His apostles, died for us, suffered for our sins, and prayed for us. This give thanks song reminds children that Heavenly Father “gives us” everything: Eyes and ears and hands and feet, clothes to wear, and food to eat; Father, mother, baby small” Heavenly Father “gives us all.” Each picture shows things they can mention in prayer that they are thankful for. . . . BELIEVING IN JESUS . . .
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
Martha, who was Lazarus’s sister, told Jesus: “I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God” (John 11:27). The story of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus can strengthen the children’s testimonies of Jesus Christ.

Summarize the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead (see also “Chapter 43: Jesus Brings Lazarus Back to Life,” in New Testament Stories, 107–9, or the corresponding video on ChurchofJesusChrist.org). Show the children a dead branch and a living plant, and ask them which one is dead and which one is living. Bear your testimony that because of the power of Jesus Christ, people who are dead will be resurrected and live forever.
OLDER CHILDREN
How can you use the story of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus to help the children know, as Martha did, that Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of God”? (John 11:27).

Write on the board some statements spoken by people in John 11. Ask the children to identify who said each statement, and invite them to search John 11 to check their answers. How would they feel if they were Jesus, Martha, Mary, or Lazarus? How can believing in Jesus help us when we are sad or scared?

Read Martha’s testimony, found in John 11:20–27. Ask the children to look for words and phrases that show that Martha had faith in Jesus Christ. What can we do to have faith in Him?

Help the children memorize John 11:25. Explain that everyone will be resurrected, but only the righteous will receive eternal life and live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again.

As the youth put together this puzzle, telling the stories of Jesus, ask them how they would feel if one puzzle piece were missing how would they feel? AGES 1-5. JESUS’S BIRTH: Jesus is Heavenly Father’s Son poster or coloring page. Children can view the manger scene where Mary gives birth to God’s only begotten Son sent to this earth. This is God the Father’s way of bringing Jesus to earth through Mary a mortal and Heavenly Father an immortal parent. THE HOME ACTIVITY motivates them to learn of Jesus. READ MORE

Youth can learn the roles of the Godhead as they search for words in the border to fill in the blanks. The words are written backward to make it more of a challenge.
